Description

The Ellis Rugby Welsh T-Shirt. A classic design incorporating the vintage Welsh crest as well as Ellis Rugby branding.

Rugby  Union took root in Wales in 1850, when Reverend Rowland Williams became Vice-Principal at St David’s College, Lampeter, where he introduced the sport. The formation of the first Welsh Rugby club, Neath, took place in 1871.

Wales played their first international on 19 February 1881; organised by Newport’s Richard Mullock, Wales played against England. Wales lost the game by seven goals, one drop goal and six tries to nil (8–0).

After seven attempts Wales finally beat England at Rugby in 1890. Wales would dominate the game from 1893 after a shaky start to international Rugby. The welsh team would prove unbeatable between March 1907 and January 1910.  The 1920’s would be a difficult time for Welsh Rugby. Many of the players left Wales to look for work in England during The Great depression. The 1930’s saw wales return to form, beating England at Twickenham for the first time. Since then Wales has maintained its position as one of the top Rugby Nations.

Manufactured from satin touch 100% cotton, the Welsh Rugger T-Shirt features detailed embroidery on the vintage welsh crest. In addition herringbone detail on the vents and velvet tape on the neck opening feature on the design. Also included on this T-Shirt is a complex ‘10’ applique patch on the back with the Ellis Rugby branding on the arm.

The Ellis Rugby Welsh T-Shirt is available in sizes S – 4XL.

Please note this T-Shirt is not a licensed product, nor is it a playing shirt. It is inspired by the national heroes who have played the wonderful game of Rugby Football.
