The history of Northampton Saints Rugby Team dates back to 1880. When it was established as Northampton St. James by Rev Samuel Wathen Wigg, aiming to instill discipline among the youth through rugby.

Rise to Prominence. Within two decades, Northampton produced its first England player. Harry Weston, marking the club’s emergence as a major rugby union team in the country.

The Edgar Mobbs Era. Edgar Mobbs. A legendary figure in the club’s history, epitomized courage both on the field as the club’s captain. And off the field as a war hero during World War I.

Modern Success and Achievements. Northampton Saints have won six major titles. Also, they were European Champions in 2000 and English Champions in 2014. In addition, hey have also won the secondary European Rugby Challenge Cup twice, in 2009 and 2014. Furthermore, the Anglo-Welsh Cup in 2010, and, most recently, the inaugural Premiership Rugby Cup in 2019.
