Vintage English Rugger

The English Rugger. A design that draws inspiration from the jersey worn by the English team in the 1950s.

Over the years the English rugger shirt has rarely changed since the teams inception back in 1871, featuring a plain white shirt with the famous red rose on the left chest. The few changes that have taken place include the addition of a blue collar in 1991. The right upper arm also received the addition of two thin red hoops and two thin blue hoops in this year.  Blue and red remained a feature on the white jersey until 1997. 97 saw the colour blue dropped from the jersey. Red remained however and is still a feature of the England jersey today.

The Ellis Rugby shirts gets its inspiration from the shirts of the 1950s. A time when the red rose was featuring on the jersey as a patch badge.

The English Rugger Shirt is manufactured from satin touch 100% cotton. The English Rugger Shirt features detailed embroidery on the rose crest patch, matching inner placket, cuffs and collar, herringbone detail on vents and velvet tape on the neck opening. In addition a complex ‘15’ applique patch on the back with the subtle Ellis Rugby branding on the collar stand and ecru coloured logo on the arm.

Available in sizes S – 4XL.

Please note this jersey is not a licensed product, nor is it a playing shirt. It is inspired by the national heroes who have played the wonderful game of Rugby Football.
