Description

Inspired by the former great Welsh Rugby teams. Rugby Union took root in Wales in 1850, when Reverend Rowland Williams became Vice-Principal at St David’s College, Lampeter, where he introduced the sport. The first Welsh club, Neath was formed in 1871.

Wales played their first international on 19 February 1881; organised by Newport’s Richard Mullock, Wales played against England. Wales initially found it difficult to beat England at Rugby; however in 1890, after seven attempts, Wales were finally victorious over England. This victory would prove to be the kick start Wales were looking for as they went on to dominate the sport from 1893. The Welsh team was unbeatable between March 1907 and January 1910.

The Welsh team’s performance suffered during the 1920’s as many of the players left the country in search of work. Wales returned to form during the 30’s with a spectacular win over England at Twickenham. Since then Wales has maintained its position as one of the top Rugby Nations.

Manufactured from satin touch 100% cotton, the Welsh Rugger T-Shirt features detailed embroidery on the vintage welsh crest. In addition herringbone detail on the vents and velvet tape on the neck opening feature on the design. Also included on this T-Shirt is a complex ‘10’ applique patch on the back with the Ellis Rugby branding on the arm.
The Ellis Rugby Welsh T-Shirt is available in sizes S – 4XL.

Please note this T-Shirt is not a licensed product, nor is it a playing shirt. It is inspired by the national heroes who have played the wonderful game of Rugby Football.
