An Introduction to Women’s Rugby Long Hoodie Emily

Manufactured in 100% fleece lined cotton, the Women’s Rugby Long Hoodie Emily Valentine Navy is produced by Ellis Rugby. It is an exceptional quality Hoodie and inspired by the history of Ladies Rugby.

Following research by John Birch, the earliest ever record of a female playing rugby is the Irish-born Emily Valentine. She played rugby as a girl in 1887.

By the late 1990s, Women’s Rugby was becoming more professional, both by the players and the administration. The 2002 Women’s Rugby World Cup was held in Barcelona, Spain. The format was the same as the previous tournament in 1998 with 16 nations competing.

For the first time, a pre-tournament qualification match took place to decide Asia’s second representative. But other than that all competitors took part by invitation. Japan and Samoa joined the competition. And they replaced Sweden and Russia.

Defending champions New Zealand won the competition. The final was staged on the 25th of May at the Olympic Stadium in Barcelona. And the ‘Black Ferns’ dominated England Rugby’s ‘Red Roses’ team. New Zealand scored two tries. Further, Hall back Monique Hirovanaa scored New Zealand’s first try in the 33rd minute. She stepped past her marker. And sneaked down the narrowest of blindsides from behind quick ruck ball on the edge of England’s 22.

Hirovanaa also set up the second try. She set up the second try when she sold a classic dummy to the defence after running off the back of a New Zealand lineout. She then raced 35m before drawing fullback England Women’s Rugby Full Back Paula George. And she passed to the ever-present Cheryl Waaka, who scored from 10m.

Veteran Tammi Wilson kicked three penalty goals. In response, England scored two penalties and a drop goal from Fly-Half Shelley Rae.

The Women’s Rugby Long Hoodie features a stylish print design on the back. In addition, detailed gold embroidery on the chest. Also, included in this garment is contract drawcord and velvet strip lined half kangaroo pockets.

The Ellis Rugby Women’s Rugby Long Hoodie Emily Valentine in Navy is available in sizes S – XL.
