Born on 23rd November 1901 in Aliwal North, Cape Colony, South Africa. Benjamin Louwrens Osler. fondly known as Bennie. Displayed a passion for rugby from an early age. His natural talent and tactical acumen soon caught the attention of local rugby clubs. And it wasn’t long before he was making waves on the national stage.

The zenith of Bennie Osler’s career came during the 1931-1932 Springbok tour of the United Kingdom. As the team’s captain and fly-half. Osler showcased his exceptional skills, leadership, and rugby intelligence. His kicking prowess. Especially with the drop goal. Became a signature feature of his game. Osler’s ability to read the game. And make split-second decisions endeared him to fans and opponents alike.

Rugby Legend showed Humility, Integrity, and a deep love of the Game

Osler’s Springboks became the second South African team,. And only second of all time, to win a Grand Slam—a win over all four Home Nations on one tour. The tour continued into 1932. And the team eventually played 26 matches, with only one loss.
