Born on May 12, 1975, in Pukekohe, New Zealand, Lomu’s early years were challenging. Growing up in South Auckland, he was surrounded by gang violence. However, his mother nurtured his passion for sports. Attending Wesley College, he excelled in athletics and rugby. His breakthrough came in the 1994 Hong Kong Sevens tournament, where his performance caught global attention. Moreover, that same year, he became the youngest All Black, debuting at just 19 years and 45 days.
