This sample was produced for the Ellis Rugby Pioneers Collection. The design had an interesting story inspired by the Olympic Games of 1900.
The USFSA (Union des Sociétés Françaises de Sports Athlétiques) was a historic French sports governing body that pioneered and directed rugby union in France from its founding in 1890 until 1920. France, represented by Union des Sociétés Françaises, Germany, represented mainly by the FC 1880 Frankfurt, and Great Britain, represented by the Moseley Wanderers, all participated in the inaugural rugby event at the Olympics. Only two games were contested, France played both Germany and Great Britain, the French winning both matches.
The design includes USFSA alongside the Coq and two circles the French symbol at the time.
